Former Muskies standout Keith Woodson returned to Lakeland in Dec. 2022 and is in his first year as defensive backs coach.
Woodson comes back to Lakeland with extensive experience coaching and also having played professionally in arena football and overseas. Most recently he was the defensive backs and pass game coordinator at Elmhurst (Ill.) in 2022, joining the Bluejays in Feb. 2022 through the end of the season.
Woodson also coached cornerbacks in 2021 at Lakeland’s Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference rival Concordia Chicago. Before that he spent two years at Trinity International University with the NAIA program in Deerfield, Ill. Woodson also assisted with high school programs from 2013-19, and before that he was a student assistant at Lakeland in the 2011 season.
Woodson also played for three years professionally with the Chicago Blitz of the American Indoor Football arena league, where he was a three-year starter. Before that, he spent time playing and coaching overseas in Serbia for the Sirmium Legionaires.
Woodson was a four-year starter at cornerback for the Muskies from 2007-10 and was a three-time All-Northern Athletics (now Northern Athletics Collegiate) Conference selection from 2008-10, including twice being named to the all-conference first team. In 40 games in his career he made 165 tackles, intercepted 14 passes and broke up 41 passes, and he is tied for fourth in Lakeland school history for career interceptions.
Woodson graduated from Lakeland in Dec. 2011 with a degree in fitness studies.
