Patrick Johnson

Patrick Johnson rejoins the Lakeland football coaching staff and this year will coach the team’s defensive backs and safeties.

Johnson served as a student assistant for the Muskies in 2015 after a strong four-year career at Lakeland. He returns to Lakeland after spending last year at the University of Minnesota-Crookston, where he coached the team’s defensive backs and was assistant special teams coach. Before that he spent two years coaching at Nicolet High School in Glendale, Wis., where he was the Knights’ offensive coordinator.

Johnson was a three-year starter at cornerback at Lakeland, appearing in 38 games and starting 34 in his career. He finished with 26 pass breakups, four interceptions and three fumble recoveries, and was a member of a 2014 team that shared the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference regular season crown. Johnson was an honorable mention all-NACC selection as a senior, when he also tied for fifth in the conference in interceptions and was part of a defense that ranked seventh in NCAA Division III in pass efficiency defense.

Johnson is a native of Pontiac, Mich. He graduated from Lakeland with a degree in non-profit management.
