Terrence (T.J.) Lockett, Jr., is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Lakeland football team in 2025 and will coach the team’s defensive backs.
Lockett comes to the Muskies with experience coaching at the collegiate and high school levels. He recently spent five years as an assistant at Illinois College, where he was defensive backs coach for three years and special teams coordinator his final two years. In 2023 he was part of a Blueboys staff that won the first Midwest Conference championship in school history. He also worked in student affairs at IC for four years and most recently was assistant director of residential life for the last year at the school.
Lockett played collegiately for two years at NCAA Division II Missouri S&T University in Rolla, Mo., for two years and then played two years at Division III Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a two-year starter at Coe, and as a senior was part of a team that won the American Rivers Conference championship.
Lockett later was the offensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at Bishop DuBourg High School in St. Louis, and defensive backs coach at Cedar Rapids Prairie High School in Iowa. He also spent time as a sports performance coach at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and at Saint Louis University.
A native of St. Louis, Mo., Lockett lives in Sheboygan with his wife Delaney and their daughter Lenore (“Lenny”).
