2012: Played in seven games and made first career start in season finale Nov. 10 against Benedictine (Ill.)... Completed 12 of 33 passes for 96 yards with two interceptions... Also rushed 27 times for 132 yards, including 134 yards rushing against Benedictine.

2011: Played in five games as a freshman in spot duty, completing two of eight passes for a total of 10 yards.

Personal: Born Oct. 8, 1992... Son of Steve Velpel and the late Linda Velpel and has three brothers (Brian, Kevin and Kyle) and one sister (Amber)... Majoring in mathematics and computer science.
