Kurt Jansen returns to the Lakeland University men's basketball coaching staff in 2023-24.
Jansen is a former Muskies standout and begins his second stint as an assistant coach with the program. He previously was the program's lead assistant coach from 2017-21.

Jansen initially returned to his alma mater in 2017 after completing a one-year stint as lead assistant coach for Williston State College, a junior college in Williston, N.D., where he coached under former Muskie player Rylee Hernandez. Prior to that, Jansen, served as an assistant coach in the Wrightstown High School boys basketball program.

Jansen played for the Muskies from 2011-15 as a four-year contributor who played in 97 career games. He was a multi-year captain and helped lead the Muskies to 77 wins, a Northern Athletics Conference (now Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) North Division regular-season title and back-to-back conference tournament appearances. As a senior he won the T.W. Hoernemann basketball academic award.

Jansen is a native of Wrightstown, Wis., and was a three-year letter winner and two-time all-Olympia Conference honoree in basketball at Wrightstown. He holds an exercise science degree from Lakeland and a master's degree in recreational and athletic administration from Western Kentucky University. He is married to the former Gaby Cappaert, a Lakeland graduate and former student-athlete in women’s basketball at the school.
