Sam Schroeder enters his fourth season as an assistant for the Lakeland College men’s basketball team. He also is in his second year as the Muskies' head men's golf coach.
As a men's basketball assistant the past three years, Schroeder assisted the Muskies in a stretch in which they've posted a 62-21 record, including a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference North Division championship in 2013 and two NACC Tournament championship game appearances. Schroeder also attributed in the player development of 10 all-conference selections, including the school’s all-time leading scorer and NACC player of the year (Jake Schwarz) in 2013, two d3hoop.com All-Region selections, and a third team All-American selection. .
Off the court, Schroeder developed and initiated the men's basketball program's Leadership, Attitude, and Character Education program (LACE). LACE emphasizes creating a championship culture on and off the court. The program provides student-athletes with a foundation for success and guides them to being positive, respectful, and contributing leaders of society.
Schroeder joined the Muskie men's basketball staff after playing basketball for four years at Lakeland. He was a member of the Muskies' 2007-08 Northern Athletics Conference (now NACC) Tournament championship team, was a two-time NAC Scholar-Athlete, and also was named to the NAC All-Sportsmanship Team. He also received the team’s Passion and Dedication Award while playing basketball.
Schroeder is a native of Red River, Wis., and a graduate of Shawano High School, where he was a standout three-sport athlete in basketball, baseball and football. He received his bachelor's degree in sociology from Lakeland with minors in ethnic and gender studies and history, and he recently completed his master's in counseling from Lakeland.
