Keenan Hamilton is in his third year as head coach of Lakeland’s men’s and women’s cross country and track & field programs.
Hamilton took over the cross country program on an interim basis in 2014 and was named the full-time head coach in January 2015. He is in his third year overall at Lakeland, having also served as an assistant with both the track and cross country teams for one year.
Hamilton joined the Muskie coaching staff in the summer of 2013 after competing collegiately in track & field as a thrower, first at Kentucky State University and then at Tiffin (Ohio) University. He was named Kentucky State’s Newcomer of the Year and Field Athlete of the Year as a freshman, and was named Second Team All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as a sophomore.
Hamilton then transferred to Tiffin, where he proceeded to set the school record in the weight throw and also ranks in the top five in school history in both the discus and hammer throw. Hamilton was an NCAA Division II national qualifier indoors in the weight throw and outdoors in the discus, and ranked sixth in the nation in the weight throw.
Hamilton is a native of Oak Park, Mich., and is still training and competing professionally. He received his bachelor’s degree from Tiffin in business administration.
