Adam Galla

Adam Galla is in his fourth season as a head soccer coach at Lakeland College.

Galla will again concentrate solely on coaching the men's team this season after coaching both the men's and women's teams his first two years at Lakeland. Last year in his third season with the men’s team, Galla led the Muskies to a 6-12-1 record. Lakeland scored five wins via shutout and also lost four matches by a single goal.

In 2013, Galla engineered the team to an 8-9-1 overall record, a big improvement over the team’s 2-14-3 record in his first year. Lakeland got off to a 5-1-1 start, the best start in program history, and the six-win improvement was the biggest single-season win total increase in the history of the program. The team also finished just one win shy of tying the school single-season win record of nine wins set in 2001.

Galla has a three-year record of 16-35-5 leading the Lakeland men’s soccer team. In his first season in 2012, Lakeland started 2-2-1 through its first five games but could manage just two ties the rest of the season. In addition to finishing with three ties, the Muskies also lost six games by two goals or less.

Galla came to Lakeland from Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo., where he served as the top assistant coach. At Central Methodist, Galla helped establish the women's program as a competitor at the NAIA level. In his time at CMU, the Eagles improved from a 3-12-3 overall mark in the 2010-11 season to a 14-3-2 record in the 2011-12 season.

Galla has nine years of coaching experience, including seven years at various club soccer teams in Missouri. He served as head coach for the Columbia Pride U-18 Boys’ team and as an assistant coach for the 1996 Girls Olympic Development Program (ODP) team. Galla holds the United States Soccer Federation ‘D’ license as well as the NSCAA National Diploma.

A native of St. Charles, Mo., Galla was a four-year letter winner at William Woods University in Fulton, Mo., and was the backbone of the Owls’ defense. He received his bachelor’s degree in social work from William Woods in 2007, and received a master’s degree in education from Central Methodist in 2011.
