Ty Arras enters his fourth season as an assistant coach with the Lakeland College women’s basketball team.
Arras is in his second year as Coach Lindsey Vande Hoef’s lead assistant, a position he took over after serving two seasons as the team’s graduate assistant. Arras also is in his second year as head coach of the Lakeland women’s golf team.
A native of Entiat, Wash., Arras came to Lakeland after two years as an assistant coach at alma mater Entiat High School. In 2010-11, Arras helped the Lady Tigers to a 19-6 record with an appearance in the Washington state Class 2B regionals. The previous year, Arras helped the Entiat boy’s team to a 20-5 record and an appearance at State in Class 2B.
Arras received a bachelor’s degree in communication from Washington State University, where he also served as a men’s basketball student manager from 2006-2009. Arras’s duties included helping with video coordinating, filming practice and games, as well as day-to-day tasks in the office.
Arras completed his Masters of Arts in counseling from Lakeland in Aug. 2013.
