Ty Arras enters his third season as an assistant coach with the Lakeland College women’s basketball team.
After serving two seasons as the team’s graduate assistant, Arras has been bumped up to the position as Coach Lindsey Vande Hoef’s lead assistant, replacing Britni Fett, who took the head coaching job at Nebraska Wesleyan University. Arras also will take over as head coach of the Lakeland women’s golf team.
A native of Entiat, Wash., Arras came to Lakeland after two years as an assistant coach at alma mater Entiat High School. In 2010-11, Arras helped the Lady Tigers to a 19-6 record with an appearance in the Washington state Class 2B regionals. The previous year, Arras helped the Entiat boy’s team to a 20-5 record and an appearance at State in Class 2B.
Arras received a bachelor’s degree in communication from Washington State University, where he also served as a men’s basketball student manager from 2006-2009. Arras’s duties included helping with video coordinating, filming practice and games, as well as day-to-day tasks in the office.
Arras will complete his Masters of Arts in Counseling from Lakeland in August.
