Tammy Utley

Tammy Utley is in her second year as head coach of the Lakeland women's tennis team as well as her third year assistant coach with the Lakeland softball team.

Utley took over an all-new team in 2015, as the Muskies fielded six players new to the program and all playing collegiate tennis for the first time. Lakeland finished winless in 10 dual matches but was competitive in many matches, including a pair of narrow 5-4 losses in the team’s first two matches to start the season.

Utley also has served as an assistant with the softball team the past two years, and this past spring helped Lakeland qualify for the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament for the first time in five years. She coaches the team’s hitters, and the Muskies have become a potent lineup that ranks among the better offenses in the NACC.

Utley brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to coaching at Lakeland, with experience playing at the NCAA Division I level as well as coaching at the high school and college levels.

Utley has nearly 20 years of coaching experience, with a career that began as an assistant coach at Mid-Prairie High School in Wellman, Iowa. She then served as an assistant coach at the University of Northern Iowa from 2002-07, and then stepped into a head coaching role, first at Cedar Falls (Iowa) High School from 2008-10 and then at Waterloo West High School from 2011-12. She also was the head coach at Sheboygan North High School from 2013-14.

Utley played collegiately at the University of Iowa from 1995-99, where she was a team captain, team MVP, and was named third team all-Big 10. She also was a Big 10 all-academic selection and an all-region scholar-athlete.

Utley graduated from the University of Iowa in 1999 with a B.S. in Sports, Health and Leisure & Physical Studies. She resides in Sheboygan.
