Caleigh Galvan is in her first year as a graduate assistant coach with the Lakeland women’s volleyball team. She also will assist with the Muskies' men's volleyball team in the spring.
Galvan joins the coaching staff after a decorated playing career as a four-year starter for the Muskies. Playing her last three years as a libero, she broke numerous school marks in digs on her way to twice being named first team all-Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference and a two-time winner of the NACC Defensive Player of the Year award.
Galvan finished with 2,336 career digs, breaking the previous school mark by more than 450 digs. She also broke the school’s single-season total digs and digs per set records each of her last three years, including 749 digs her senior year when she ranked second nationally in NCAA Division III in total digs and fifth nationally with 6.69 digs per set. Galvan also added the school mark for digs in a match with 38, set twice in her senior year, and tied the school record for service aces in a single match.
Galvan is a native of New Lenox, Ill., and completed her undergraduate degrees from Lakeland in criminal justice and psychology. She is working on her master’s degree in counseling.
