Justin Jurek is in his third year as Lakeland's athletic department administrative assistant in 2023-24. He also is in his fifth year as an assistant coach with the Lakeland baseball program and third year as defensive line coach with the Lakeland football team.

Jurek joined the Muskies in the 2019-20 school year as a baseball graduate assistant after previously serving as an assistant coach at Mid-Michigan Community College in Harrison, Mich. He assisted in the start-up of a first-year program that brought in more than 30 student-athletes for its first season.

Jurek also previously coached the Gladstone Indians Post 71 American Legion team in his hometown of Gladstone, Mich. He led the Indians to three consecutive Class A district and state championships, and a number of his former players went on to compete at the NCAA or NJCAA levels.
Jurek played collegiately at Delta Community College in Bay County, Mich., where he was named an NJCAA All-Region XII pitcher as a sophomore and also won the region Gold Glove for pitchers. He is a graduate of Gladstone High School and his sister Brittany is a former multi-sport Lakeland student-athlete and coach.
