Kline tallies again, Ganzke gets shutout in Lakeland men’s soccer win

HANCOCK, Mich. – Zachary Kline (So.-Luxemburg, Wis.) scored for the third time in four matches and the Lakeland College men's soccer team swung momentum late in the first half and went on for a 3-0 win over Finlandia (Mich.) University Saturday afternoon in a non-conference match.

The Muskies scored twice in a 37-second span late in the first half and went on to their sixth win of the season. Lakeland is now 6-11-1 overall with a final Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match at Wisconsin Lutheran College Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The match was scoreless until Nwachan (Ayoko) Nda (Jr.-Douala Litoral Region, Cameroon) broke the ice with an unassisted goal with 6:10 left in the first half. The Muskies then struck again just 37 seconds later, as Kline scored with an assist from Gustavo Flores Pous (So.-Xochitepec, Mexico) for a two-goal advantage.

Lakeland added another insurance goal in the 64th minute. Renan Asato (So.-Sao Paolo, Brazil) tallied his second goal of the season unassisted, and the Muskies made it stand up the rest of the way.

Austin Ganzke (Sr.-West Allis, Wis.) made six saves in goal to post his fifth shutout of the season. Lakeland outshot Finlandia (6-9 overall) 21-10 for the match, including an 11-6 edge in shots on goal.

Brandon Roeske and Jordan Darnell combined to make eight saves for the Lions. Forward Saul Ibarra tallied a game-high seven shot attempts for the hosts.
