Muskies welcome nearby Silver Lake Tuesday night

After an overwhelming performance in its season opener, the Lakeland College men's basketball team goes for its second straight win to start the season when it hosts Silver Lake College at 7 p.m. Tuesday night at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.

The Muskies defeated Finlandia (Mich.) 92-55 in their season debut on Saturday, as senior transfer Derick Denny (Oneida, Wis.) scored 23 points with seven three-pointers and added seven steals in his first game as a Muskie. Lakeland outscored the Lions 48-8 over a 15-minute stretch from late in the first half through midway in the second half and won its season opener for the third straight year.

Silver Lake comes down from neighboring Manitowoc with considerably more games under its belt this year. The Lakers are 3-6 overall after playing back-to-back games against Mayville State (N.D.) this weekend, losing to the Comets both Friday and Saturday. Silver Lake has had some very notable performances, including an 84-72 win at NAIA member Viterbo on Nov. 4 coming just three days after the V-Hawks had knocked off perennial power and No. 2 ranked in NAIA Division II Cardinal Stritch.
