The Lakeland College men's basketball team is off to another good start and will look to continue its run when it hosts Wisconsin Lutheran College at 7 p.m. Tuesday night in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
The Muskies are 4-0 overall and won their NACC opener Saturday, defeating Concordia Chicago 76-60.
Eric Nygaard (
Fr.-Plymouth, Wis.) had a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds in his first collegiate start, while
Joey Burris (
Sr.-Kiel, Wis.) scored 15 points to lead four players scoring in double figures.
The Warriors enter with a 3-2 overall mark and are 1-1 in conference play. Most recently, Wisconsin Lutheran stepped out of conference on Saturday and defeated Bethany Lutheran (Minn.) 74-60. D.J. Escamilla scored 17 to lead four WLC players scoring in double figures. The Warriors made 9 of 16 from three-point range and outrebounded the Vikings 38-28 in leading from start to finish.
This is the 62nd meeting ever between Lakeland and Wisconsin Lutheran in a series that dates back to 1982. The Muskies hold a 36-25 lead in the series into tonight, though the Warriors have been tough on the Muskies the last two seasons, winning the last three matchups. WLC swept both of last year's meetings, winning 62-60 in Milwaukee back on Dec. 3 and 87-76 at Lakeland on Feb. 5.
