Lakeland, Concordia renew rivalry for 119th time Tuesday night

With six games left in the regular season, the stretch run has begun for the Lakeland College men's basketball team, which hosts Concordia University Wisconsin Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in an important Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.

The Muskies (12-7 overall, 8-6 NACC) come in needing a win after a 79-73 loss to Rockford on Saturday. Lakeland fell behind in the game's early minutes and never could pull back ahead, even after chipping an 11-point deficit down to one point in the second half. The Muskies shot just 2-for-16 from three-point range while making 42.4% of their shots for the contest. Travis Kell (So.-Madison, Wis.) led Lakeland with 12 points, one of four scoring in double figures.

The Falcons come in at 11-7 overall and are 10-3 in conference play. CUW most recently won the battle of Concordias on Saturday, defeating Concordia Chicago 78-67 on the road in River Forest, Ill. Malcolm Bower scored a career-high 20 points and Brett Boettcher added a doubledouble with 15 points and 14 rebounds.

Lakeland and Concordia are meeting for the 119th time tonight in a series that dates to 1938-39, back when Lakeland was known as Mission House College and was in its sixth year of playing basketball. The Muskies hold a slim 60-58 all-time lead in the series, though the Falcons won the first meeting this season in Mequon by an 86-61 score.
