With six games left in the regular season, the stretch run has begun for the Lakeland College men's basketball team, which hosts Concordia University Wisconsin Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in an important Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
The Muskies (12-7 overall, 8-6 NACC) come in needing a win after a 79-73 loss to Rockford on Saturday. Lakeland fell behind in the game's early minutes and never could pull back ahead, even after chipping an 11-point deficit down to one point in the second half. The Muskies shot just 2-for-16 from three-point range while making 42.4% of their shots for the contest.
Travis Kell (
So.-Madison, Wis.) led Lakeland with 12 points, one of four scoring in double figures.
The Falcons come in at 11-7 overall and are 10-3 in conference play. CUW most recently won the battle of Concordias on Saturday, defeating Concordia Chicago 78-67 on the road in River Forest, Ill. Malcolm Bower scored a career-high 20 points and Brett Boettcher added a doubledouble with 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Lakeland and Concordia are meeting for the 119th time tonight in a series that dates to 1938-39, back when Lakeland was known as Mission House College and was in its sixth year of playing basketball. The Muskies hold a slim 60-58 all-time lead in the series, though the Falcons won the first meeting this season in Mequon by an 86-61 score.
