Franco Herrera (
Sr.-Naucalpan, Mexico) scored a pair of goals and
Dustin Garbe (
So.-Sheboygan, Wis.) scored his first collegiate goal but the Lakeland College men's soccer team was defeated 10-3 by Milwaukee School of Engineering Wednesday night.
The powerful Raiders scored eight times in the first half, including five times in the first 16 minutes. Lakeland was able to get three goals back but dropped to 2-14 overall and 1-7 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.
Herrera scored his first goal in the 28th minute, popping a shot over the goalkeeper after a pass from
Gustavo Zogobi Ciarlariello (
So.-Sao Paolo, Brazil). He added a second goal in the 55th minute in the second half, tallying unassisted for his third goal in two games to make the score 8-2.
Garbe scored his first career goal in the 63rd minute. He received a pass from
Dylan Lange (
Fr.-Geneva, Ill.) and found the net, cutting the MSOE lead to 8-3.
The Raiders (11-4 overall, 6-2 NACC) held a 23-14 advantage in shots and scored on 10 of their 17 shots on goal. Lakeland finished with seven shots on goal, led by Herrera with three and
Mirko Tadic (
Sr.-Santiago, Chile) with two.
Braden Andryk, Logan Andryk, Gregory Borsari and Jerry Rubio all scored two goals each for MSOE.
The Muskies are back home Saturday to face Aurora (Ill.) University at 1 p.m. The day will also be Senior Day for the team's five seniors.
