Marian University scored four second-half goals and defeated the Lakeland University men's soccer team 6-3 Wednesday afternoon in a rainy Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match.
Alonso Fragoso scored three goals for the Sabres, all in the second half and two in the final two minutes. Marian defeated Lakeland for the second straight year, while the Muskies dropped to 3-11 overall and 1-5 in conference.
Charles Apostolik (
So.-New Castle, Colo.),
Nwachan (Ayoko) Nda (
Sr.-Douala Litoral Region, Cameroon) and
Tyler Norris (
Fr.-Roscoe, Ill.) all scored goals for the Muskies (3-11 overall, 1-5 NACC), who led early and then fought back from three goals down to close within a goal late. Apostolik,
Brian Herrmann (
Jr.-Hortonville, Wis.),
Renan Asato (
Sr.-Sao Paolo, Brazil) and
Zac Kline (
Sr.-Luxemburg, Wis.) also all added assists.
Thomis Mannebach (
Jr.-Florence, Wis.) made six saves in goal for Lakeland. The Muskies were outshot by a narrow 18-14 margin.
Fragoso added two assists along with his three goals. Israel Tovar, Sam Kusik and Muhammed Abshir all also scored for Marian (5-6-1 overall, 3-3-1 NACC).
The Muskies are home again Saturday when they face Edgewood College at 3:30 p.m.
