ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana (Ill.) College scored three second half goals and the Lakeland University men's soccer team was defeated 4-0 Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game.

The Muskies stood tall on defense most of the game, trailing by just a goal after 60 minutes, but the Vikings pulled away late for their first win of the year in four tries. Lakeland, meanwhile, remains without a win in five attempts this season.

Michael Peters scored the first two goals for Augustana, including the icebreaker at 18:08 in the first half. He also scored the second goal, coming in the 62nd minute to give the Vikings' some breathing room.

Michael Brazinski added two more goals, both coming in the final 12 minutes. His goal with 11:07 left in regulation made it 3-0, and he scored once again with just 1:13 left to close out the scoring.

Lakeland's chances were few and far between, with Augustana holding an 18-4 lead in shot attempts. Three of the Muskies' four attempts came in the first half, including the team's first shot on goal by John Bentler (Fr.-Seattle, Wash.) in the 31st minute.

Thomis Mannebach (Jr.-Florence, Wis.) made seven saves in goal before giving way late to Bradley Stoeckel (Fr.-Sturgeon Bay, Wis.), and Ivan Lopez followed just nine seconds later after the Big Blue intercepted shortly after the kickoff, pushed down the left side and scored from the wing.

Lakeland hits the road again Tuesday when it travels to face Iowa Wesleyan University in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, at 4 p.m.
