Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Muskies top 100-point mark in scorching Silver Lake

MANITOWOC – Pat McDonald (Jr.-Port Washington, Wis.) paced five players scoring in double figures with 18 points and the Lakeland University men's basketball team was red-hot from outside again in rolling past Silver Lake College 107-71 in a non-conference game Tuesday night.

The Muskies shook free from some shooting struggles in their last outing, hitting 16 three-pointers in a game for the second time this season. Lakeland also shot better than 50% from the field in both halves in improving to 6-3 overall this season.

The Muskies once again tied the school record for second-most three-pointers in a game, making 16 of 33 tries from long range (48.5%). Seven of those came in the first half as Lakeland built a 54-28 halftime lead, and nine more came in the final 20 minutes as the lead ballooned to as many as 41 points.

McDonald, Carlos Campos (So.-Janesville, Wis.) and Zach Hasenstein (Fr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) all hit four three-pointers each, with Campos scoring 17 points and Hasenstein adding 14. Garrett Duffin (Jr.-Princeton, Ill.) also added three three-pointers on his way to making 6 of 7 shots and scoring a career-high 15 points off the bench.

Lakeland shot 53.3% for the game, making 40 of 75 field goals. The Muskies hit 20 of 38 shots in the first half (52.6%) and were even slightly better in the second half, converting 20 of 37 (54.1%).

Shakur Jinad (So.-Chicago, Ill.) also scored 17 points and added a team-high 10 rebounds. Corey Allen (Jr.-Chicago, Ill.) also chipped in a career-high seven points plus four rebounds, and he hit the jumper with 3 minutes, 17 seconds left in the game that put Lakeland at the 100-point mark for the first time since a 100-92 victory over Rockford University on Jan. 16, 2016.

Freddy Cook scored 17 points to lead Silver Lake (1-11 overall), an NAIA member which the Muskies now have a 10-0 mark against all-time and have defeated each of the last nine seasons.

Lakeland returns to Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play Saturday with another short trip as it travels 45 minutes west on Highway 23 to face Marian University in Fond du Lac at 4 p.m.
