Muskies, Raiders to meet in matchup of early NACC contenders

Two of the top three teams in the early Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference standings will battle for position when the Lakeland University men's basketball team hosts Milwaukee School of Engineering in a pre-Christmas showdown at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.

The Muskies and Raiders both enter with 4-1 marks in the NACC, tying them for second in the standings. Both teams are tied in the loss column and just one-half game overall behind league leader Concordia University Wisconsin.

Lakeland (6-4 overall) has lost its last two games, including a 74-59 loss to Carroll in a non-conference game at home Tuesday. Jequan Pegeese (So.-Beloit, Wis.) scored 18 points but Shakur Jinad (Jr.-Chicago, Ill.) with 10 points was the only other in double figures as Lakeland shot 33.3%.
MSOE (9-1 overall) has been idle for a week but in its last game won 116-85 at Aurora last Saturday. The Raiders scorched the nets with 65.6% shooting from the field and made 16 of 24 (66.7%) from three-point range. Matthew Kirmse scored 28 points and hit five three-pointers, and five others hit two triples each. MSOE also was dominant inside with a massive 41-18 rebounding advantage, and Jake Gebert finished with a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards.
