Alberto Oliveras (Fr.-Fort Myers, Fla.) homered and drove in four runs but Dominican University was propelled by a five-run sixth inning to an 8-7 victory over the Lakeland University baseball team Sunday afternoon in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play.

The Stars completed a pair of narrow wins in a doubleheader sweep of the Muskies, also prevailing 5-4 in the first game. Lakeland is now 8-18 overall and 4-12 in conference with four league games to play.

Oliveras went 3-for-4 and drove in runs with a single, a two-run double and a solo homer. He posted four RBIs in a game for the second straight day, and along with teammate Jacob Plucinski (Fr.-Chicago, Ill.) accounted for six of Lakeland's nine hits in game two.

The Muskies held a 4-2 lead through five innings after Oliveras homered in the bottom of the fifth, but the Stars (16-18 overall, 5-13 NACC) turned the game around in the sixth, scoring five times. Two blows provided all of Dominican's runs, as Nathaniel Natividad hit a two-run double and Matt Segovia followed two batters later with a three-run homer to put the guests ahead 7-4.

Lakeland played from behind the rest of the way, even as it chipped away with single runs in each of the final three innings. Oliveras singled in Plucinski in the seventh, Lino Figueroa (Fr.-Westchester, Ill.) scored on an error in the eighth to make it 7-6, and after Dominican tacked on an insurance run in the ninth the Muskies got within a run again as un homer and Justin Wahl Adame (Fr.-Riverside, Calif.) hit a sacrifice fly to score Plucinski. Lakeland ended the game with the tying run on second base, as Dominican reliever Tyler Foreman got a strikeout to end it.

The first game followed a rather similar story, with the Muskies leading into the middle innings before the Stars pulled ahead and then weathered the hosts' final rally. Lakeland led 1-0 after Connor Hilburn (Jr.-Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) and Plucinski stroked back-to-back doubles to lead off the bottom of the fourth, but Dominican scored twice in both the fifth and sixth innings to take a 4-1 lead.

The Stars pushed the margin to 5-1 with a run without a hit in the seventh, but the Muskies came back with two in the eighth as Ben Schecter (Fr.-Woodland Hills, Calif.) doubled to score Matt Benninghoff (Jr.-Highland, Ind.) and Hilburn later lifted a sacrifice fly to score Schecter. Lakeland then scored a run in the ninth by taking advantage of two Dominican errors, but the tying run was stranded at first base on a game ending fly out.

Hilburn led the offense with two hits and also took the loss on the mound, going 5 2/3 innings and allowing seven hits and four runs with six strikeouts. Jeremy Surowiec (Jr.-Lowell, Ind.) finished the game up with two scoreless innings, striking out two.

Lakeland returns to the field Tuesday when it travels to face Marian University for a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m. in Fond du Lac.
