Lakeland opens women's volleyball season Friday with home tournament

The Lakeland University women's volleyball team gets the 2018-19 Muskies athletics year off to a busy start as it hosts four other schools in its own Lakeland Women's Volleyball Tournament, which will be presented by Discovery Coaches Friday and Saturday at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.

The Muskies will welcome Cardinal Stritch University from Milwaukee, Oglethorpe University from Atlanta, Ga., the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse plus fellow Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference member Wisconsin Lutheran College for the invitational, which will include 10 matches played on two courts and begins at 3 p.m. on Friday. Lakeland opens against Cardinal Stritch on Court 1, while Oglethorpe and Wisconsin Lutheran will face off on Court 2 at the same time.

The Muskies also will play UW-La Crosse at 7 p.m. on Friday, then turn around and take on Wisconsin Lutheran at 10 a.m. on Saturday before wrapping up against Oglethorpe at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

The women's volleyball team is not the only Muskies squad getting its season underway Friday. The Lakeland women's tennis team also opens its year with a home dual against Ripon College at Sports Core in Kohler beginning at 4 p.m.
