Amanda Majewski (
Jr.-Peshtigo, Wis.) scored 17 points to lead five players in double figures and the Lakeland University women's basketball team rolled to its seventh straight win with an 87-41 defeat of Rockford University Wednesday night at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
The Muskies dominated in all areas of the game and reached the 10-win mark, improving to 10-2 overall. Lakeland also moved to 6-1 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, staying in second place in the league standings.
Majewski knocked down four of the Muskies' 10 three-pointers and made 6 of 9 shots overall, leading the team to well over 50% shooting before tailing off in the fourth quarter. She also added a career-high six assists, part of Lakeland's season-high 28 assists on 36 made field goals.
The Muskies never trailed, opening the game with an 18-3 run and then scoring 21 straight points in the second quarter to build a 43-13 lead. Lakeland led by as many as 47 early in the fourth quarter and had 12 different players score while finishing with a 33-2 advantage in bench points.
Janai' Farr (
So.-Racine, Wis.) scored 13 points off the bench,
Abby Nylund (
So.-Crystal Falls, Mich.) added 11 all in the first half, and
Rachel Hasko (
Jr.-Racine, Wis.) and
Megan Will (
So.-Lake Mills, Wis.) also both scored 10 points each.
Miranda Jacobson (
Sr.-Felch, Mich.) also added six points, six rebounds and eight assists and
Kacey Gardner (
Fr.-Evergreen Park, Ill.) finished with six points plus six steals.
Lakeland also held Rockford (1-10 overall, 1-6 NACC) to 27.5% shooting and is now holding opponents to 30.5% from the field over its current winning streak. The Regents made 14 of 51 shots and also committed 34 turnovers. Lexi Rangel led Rockford with a game-high 19 points and Sammi Russell added eight points plus 12 rebounds.
The Muskies are back in action again Saturday when they travel to face Alverno College at 7 p.m. in Milwaukee.
