The Lakeland University men's basketball team is home for the first time in the new year when it welcomes newest Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference member Illinois Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
The Muskies and Scarlet Hawks will battle for position in the NACC standings, with both teams part of a three-way tie for third in the conference at 4-3. Lakeland will be looking to snap a four-game losing streak, though, while also halting Illinois Tech's four-game winning streak coming in.
Â
The Muskies (6-6 overall) come in off of a 99-79 loss at Rockford on Thursday.
Carlos Campos (
Jr.-Janesville, Wis.) scored 21 points and
Shakur Jinad (
Jr.-Chicago, Ill.) added 18, but Rockford controlled play with a huge 60-33 rebounding advantage, including four players in double figures in boards and three players notching double-doubles.
Illinois Tech (7-5 overall) was victorious on Thursday, defeating Wisconsin Lutheran 84-65 on the road. Anthony Mosley scored 24 points, Jake Digiorgio added 20 and Max Hisatake also scored 10 points and added a game-high 16 rebounds.
Lakeland and IIT met earlier this season, with the Scarlet Hawks posting a 74-55 win at home in Chicago on Dec. 15, the game that began both teams' current streaks.
