Haley Rich (
Fr.-West Chicago, Ill.) made 22 saves in goal for the Lakeland University women's soccer team in a 5-0 loss to Illinois Tech Wednesday night.
Rich posted the most saves by a Muskies goalkeeper this season, setting a career high while under frequent duress. The Scarlet Hawks outshot Lakeland 44-4 for the match and slowly pulled away after scoring their first goal just over 29 minutes into the match.
Nicole Fajardo got Illinois Tech (10-5-2 overall, 7-1-2 NACC) on the board in the 30th minute, and the hosts added a second goal with 7 minutes, 36 seconds left before halftime. Tech would tack on three more goals in the second half, including a pair by Julia Taliana, the last coming at 70:26 of the match.
Caeli Kennedy also added two assists for Illinois Tech, which outshot Lakeland 23-0 in the first half before the Muskies got off four shots in the second half.
Rachel Hasko (
Sr.-Racine, Wis.) led the Muskies (3-13-1 overall, 2-9 NACC) on the attack with three shot attempts, including one on goal.
Skylar Garza (
So.-Hartford, Wis.) also added a shot on goal.
Lakeland closes out its 2019 campaign on Saturday when it travels to face Benedictine University at 1 p.m. in Lisle, Ill.
