Lakeland/Concordia Chicago Game Notes PDF
Lakeland University begins another trip through the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference when it heads to River Forest, Ill., to face Concordia University Chicago Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Concordia Stadium.
The Muskies open their conference schedule taking on one of their longest-running rivals, as the teams meet for the 51st time in a series that dates back to 1947. Lakeland leads the all-time series 35-15 and will look to keep up its recent mastery of the Cougars, having won the last seven meetings between the schools. That includes a 61-28 win last year on the Muskies' Homecoming.
Lakeland (1-2 overall) was defeated by UW-Platteville 55-28 Saturday night in both teams' final non-conference tune-ups before league play. Lakeland struck a number of big plays in the game but the Pioneers responded to an early Muskies touchdown with 21 points in the first quarter and then added 21 more in the third quarter to break open a 14-point game at the half.
Dezmon Eddie (
Sr.-Alexandria, La.) rushed for a 92-yard touchdown to tie for the second-longest run from scrimmage in school history and also go over the 2,000-yard mark for his career.

Concordia was idle last week after playing the first three weeks of the season, but does come in off a victory after winning at Finlandia (Mich.) 23-12 on Sept. 21. Tylor Martens barreled for a career-high 241 yards rushing on 37 carries, and the Cougars took the lead on their first offensive drive and led the rest of the way behind a stingy defensive effort.
