Lakeland/MSOE Match Notes  PDF
Lakeland University can clinch at least the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Women's Volleyball Tournament if it defeats Milwaukee School of Engineering tonight in its regular season home finale at 7 p.m. at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
The Muskies have already locked up at least the fourth seed and a home match next week in the conference tourney, but could improve as high as the No. 2 seed with a win and other conference results breaking right tonight. Lakeland will be no worse than the 3 seed with a win, could still take the third seed even with a loss depending on other results, and at worst will be the fourth seed of six teams in the tourney.
Lakeland (15-14 overall, 9-2 NACC) split two conference matches this past weekend, falling at Dominican before winning at Concordia Chicago. The loss to the Stars Friday night knocked the Muskies out of a share of first place, but Lakeland rebounded Saturday to sweep the Cougars.
MSOE (9-20 overall, 3-8 NACC) competed in the Mount Mary Invitational on Saturday, splitting matches against NAIA members Robert Morris (Ill.) and Holy Family College. Robert Morris swept the Raiders 25-23, 26-24, 27-25, in a match where two of the three sets went past 25 points to decide a winner. MSOE bounced back to handle Holy Family (formerly Silver Lake College), hitting .368 in the match.
Lakeland already defeated MSOE once this season, topping the Raiders 25-21, 25-19, 25-12 as part of the UW-Whitewater Invitational back on Aug. 31.
