KOHLER – Jacob Larson (Fr.-Wauwatosa, Wis.) and Nate Nanda (So.-Elkhorn, Wis.) both were part of two wins each as the Lakeland University men's tennis team lost a close 5-4 dual to Ripon College Saturday afternoon at Sports Core.

The Muskies finished 0-2 on the day with a 9-0 loss to Calvin (Mich.) College in the morning, but played their most competitive match of the season in the afternoon against Ripon. Lakeland won three matches at singles and added another victory at doubles.

Larson and Nanda teamed up for a hard-earned 8-7 win over Adrian Granados and Junmo Kwon at No. 2 doubles that included a 10-5 tiebreak. Larson also added a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Marcus Austin at No. 4 singles, improving to 3-1 this season in singles matches, while Nanda also topped Daniel Garcia 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5 singles.

Nick Lange (Jr.-Mukwonago, Wis.) also picked up a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Granados at No. 2 singles. The Muskies' closest shot at a fifth win came at No. 1 doubles, where Lange and Jared Nummerdor (Sr.-Waupun, Wis.) pushed Austin and Drew Jorgensen in an eventual 8-4 loss.

Lakeland is back in action on Wednesday when it travels to face St. Norbert College at 8 p.m. in De Pere.
