Jessica Leicht (
So.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.),
Annie Adams (
Fr.-Marinette, Wis.) and
Morgan Erbstoesser (
Fr.-Union, Ill.) all were double winners as the Lakeland University women's tennis team scored its first dual win of the season, topping Alverno College 7-2 Wednesday at the McKinley Park courts.
The Muskies won their Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference opener by claiming five of six matches in singles play and two of three in doubles.
Adams was a winner at No. 4 singles, defeating Merub Irfan 6-0, 6-1, while Erbstoesser topped Sierra Hunstable 6-1, 6-3 at No. 6 singles. The duo also paired up at No. 2 doubles and defeated Irfan and Kalei Hannah 8-1.
Leicht defeated Monse Sanchez-Gutierrez 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 singles. She also played No. 3 doubles with
Kallie Hoeft (
So.-Cascade, Wis.), and the two defeated Hunstable and Sanchez-Gutierrez 8-0.
All six Lakeland players accounted for at least one win in the dual.
Ellie Roe (
Jr.-Plymouth, Wis.) also was a winner at No. 1 singles, defeating Michelle Alexander 6-4, 6-3.
Abby Juozapaitis (
Jr.-North Prairie, Wis.) also picked up her first win of the season, besting Hannah 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
The Muskies are back on the road Saturday when they travel to River Forest, Ill., for a pair of NACC matches, first facing Concordia University Chicago at 10 a.m. and then taking on Dominican University at 2 p.m.
