Series history: Lakeland and Edgewood are longtime rivals, going back to their days together first in the Lake Michigan Conference and more recently in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference. The Eagles have had the upper hand in the series more often than not, holding a 27-7-9 lead in it since 1992. The Muskies won the most recent matchup, though, topping Edgewood 3-0 at home earlier this year on April 3 during the NACC's 2020-21 season delayed to the spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lakeland also gained a tie against the Eagles on the road in Madison ten days earlier, with a 2-2 tie on March 24. Edgewood's last win in the series was a 3-2 victory in Madison Oct. 16, 2019.

Lakeland last time out: Tied Rockford 1-1 (2 OT) Saturday
The Muskies and Regents played to a draw over 110 minutes on Saturday at Taylor Field in a match where all of the scoring came in a span of 19 seconds. Rockford scored the first goal at 63:28 of the match, but Lakeland came right back shortly after the kickoff to score as Carson Galla scored his first collegiate goal with a flying kick of a rebound after a shot by Suleiman Haji. The Regents finished with a 17-12 advantage in shots in a match that despite the low score frequently went up and down the field. Zach Heiman made five saves in goal for the Muskies.

Edgewood last time out: Lost to Benedictine 7-0 Saturday
The battle of the Eagles went the visiting team's way as Benedictine pulled away to win big. A close match at halftime got away from Edgewood in the second half as Benedictine scored five times, including four goals in a span of less than 18 minutes. Six different players scored for Benedictine's Eagles, which outshot Edgewood 49-10. Jack Gentner made 14 saves in goal for Edgewood, which dropped to 0-7 in conference and remained winless overall.

It's been a tough season for the Eagles, who do have a pair of one-goal losses in NACC play to Rockford and Wisconsin Lutheran and have scored at least one goal in seven of their 10 matches. Edgewood has been close in most of its losses, with six of 10 matches decided by two goals or less.

NACC award for Michecadet: Lakeland's Michecadet Gethand was honored earlier this week as the NACC's Offensive Player of the Week. Gethand received the award after his three-goal performance in the Muskies' 3-0 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran last Wednesday. It is his first-ever NACC weekly award, and the hat trick was the first by a Lakeland player in nearly 10 years, since Ben Koepsell accomplished the feat in a win over Wisconsin Lutheran in 2011.
