Series history: 9th meeting, Lakeland leads 5-3
The Muskies and Scarlet Hawks meet for the third time as conference foes since IIT joined the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference in 2018. Lakeland has won the last five meetings between the teams, all in sweeps and all played since 2015. Most recently the Muskies swept to a 3-0 win at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium Oct. 8, 2019, behind 11 kills from Abby Baumgartner plus 10 kills and five blocks from Megan Goeser. Illinois Tech last defeated Lakeland on Sept. 23, 2005, posting a three-set sweep at a tournament hosted by UW-Whitewater.

Lakeland last time out: Won at Marian 3-1 Friday
The Muskies started and finished strong to defeat the Sabres on the road in Fond du Lac, winning 28-26, 26-24, 16-25, 25-17. Lakeland made the big plays late in the first two sets and then bounced back after a poor finish to the third set to score the first nine points in the fourth. Susana Stevens delivered 14 kills, Isabella Westerholm was flawless on the attack with nine kills and no errors in 14 attempts, and Emily Bird added eight kills plus six block assists. The Muskies won the opening set for the seventh straight match but this time closed it out and moved ahead of Marian in the NACC standings with two conference matches to play.

Illinois Tech last time out: Lost at Concordia Wisconsin 3-0; Lost to Wisconsin-La Crosse 3-1 yesterday
The Scarlet Hawks faced a tough doubleheader last night against a pair of teams sitting just outside the NCAA Division III top 25 rankings and fell at NACC co-leader Concordia 25-18, 26-24, 25-13 and then to UW-La Crosse 25-10, 25-16, 23-25, 25-12. Emily Graham was a bright spot against CUW with 10 kills, but IIT really struggled against UW-L, hitting -.007 for the match though the Scarlet Hawks did pull out the third set to send the match to a fourth.

About the Scarlet Hawks: Despite the two losses last night, Illinois Tech is having its best season since joining the NACC, will post a winning record for the first time since 2016 and is on pace for its best record in 14 years. The Scarlet Hawks sat out last season due to the COVID-19 virus and were 7-21 overall and 3-9 in the NACC in 2019. IIT looking for its first-ever NACC Tournament berth and is in a five-way tie for fourth in the NACC and is among eight teams battling to fill the six spots in the tourney.

Senior Day: The Muskies play at home for the final time this season and it will be the final match at home for a trio of seniors. Emily Bringer, Kimmy McKay and Sydney Pingitore all came to Lakeland in 2018 and are four-year members of the team. The three were members of the Muskies' NACC regular season championship team in 2019 and have been part of teams winning 52 matches over four years.
