The Lakeland University women's soccer team will play at home for the final time this season and battles for position in the NACC North Division when it hosts Marian University Wednesday night at Taylor Field.
The match will be the final at home for two Muskies seniors, and
Amanda Buckler (
Sheridan, Wyo.) and
Rachel Wilson (
Gilbert, Ariz.) will be recognized before the match.

Series history: 35th meeting, Marian leads 22-12
The Sabres are the most-played opponent in Lakeland women's soccer history, as the teams have faced off 34 times prior. Marian has dominated the series of late, winning the last 11 matchups including most recently a 6-0 win in Fond du Lac on Oct. 9, 2019. Lakeland last defeated Marian in the final game of the 2008 season, scoring a 2-1 win as Amy Christenson scored the winning goal in the 72nd minute. The Sabres won the first 10 meetings in the series, which began in 1993, before the Muskies earned their first win in 1999 and proceeded to win 11 straight.
Lakeland last time out: Lost to MSOE 6-0 last Wednesday
The Muskies have been idle for the last week and most recently lost to a strong Milwaukee School of Engineering team at home a week ago. The Raiders scored just over a minute into the match and built a 3-0 lead in the first 19 minutes, and then added three goals in a span of just over 10 minutes in the second half. Nikki Ratts tallied two goals and two assists for MSOE, while
Erin Tomlinson and
McKenna Gibson combined for 15 saves, including 12 saves for Tomlinson. Lakeland mustered four shot attempts in the match, all coming off free kicks, with
Amanda Buckler and
Rachel Wilson finishing with two shots each. Buckler and Wilson also will be recognized before tonight's match as the lone two seniors playing their final home match this season.
Marian last time out: Lost to MSOE 4-1 Sunday
The Sabres also played the Raiders in their most recent match, falling at home on Sunday. All five goals in the match came in the second half, with MSOE breaking the ice in the 60th minute and then scoring two more just 2:18 part in the 72nd and 74th minutes to take a 3-0 lead. Meghan Batzner scored the lone goal for the Sabres at 83:45 with an assist from Charity Hertel, but the Raiders added a final goal with 43 seconds left for the final margin. MSOE finished with a 24-8 shots advantage with Marian keeper Kylie Lange making nine saves.
About the Sabres: Marian enters the match with an identical conference and overall record as Lakeland, meaning the teams are playing for Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference North Division position and the winner will have a leg up in the fight for a berth in the NACC Tournament. The Sabres have wins over Edgewood and Wisconsin Lutheran and all four of their losses have come to Concordia Wisconsin and MSOE, the top two teams in the division. Marian is coached by Jillian Saiberlich, the former Jillian Sauer who spent two years as a graduate assistant at Lakeland and is married to former Muskies men's basketball player Kris Saiberlich.
