Series history: 20th meeting, Aurora leads 17-2
The series between Lakeland and Aurora dates back to 2002 and has been largely dominated by the Spartans since a 3-2 double-overtime win in that first meeting Sept. 15, 2002.  Aurora has won six straight in the series, including a 6-0 win in the last meeting Oct. 19, 2019, and the Spartans won the last matchup at Taylor Field with a 4-1 decision Oct. 13, 2018. The Muskies' last win in the series came on Sept. 29, 2013 when Farouk Dadzie scored the golden goal 1:26 into overtime to give Lakeland a 2-1 win in Aurora, its first win over the Spartans since a 3-0 win back on Sept. 7, 2003, in the teams' second meeting ever.

Lakeland last time out: Lost to MSOE 5-1 Wednesday
The Muskies bounced back from an early two-goal deficit to get within a goal before halftime and play well much of the second half, but then saw the game get away in the final 15 minutes. Joseph Reyes scored his first goal of the season, the defender up in the box and heading in a corner kick by Michael Barragan with just over a minute left in the first half. Lakeland had a number of attacks into the Raiders' end in the second half but struggled to get past MSOE's back line and generated just one shot in the half. The Raiders finally extended the lead to 3-1 in the 76th minute and added two more goals in the last seven minutes. Zach Heiman made 10 saves for the Muskies, who were outshot 22-2 for the match.

Aurora last time out: Tied Concordia Chicago 1-1 (2 OT) Wednesday
The Spartans earned a tie with the Cougars in a wild finish to regulation in Aurora. Concordia took the lead with seven minutes left in the second half, but a CUC red card with just over 1 1/2 minutes left came just before the Spartans scored on a free kick to tie the game. Aurora then outshot the Cougars 8-0 in overtime but could not break through as the match finished in a tie. Antonio Herrera made three saves in goal for the Spartans, who earned the tie after a pair of narrow losses in conference against Concordia Wisconsin and St. Norbert.

Reyes scores again: Joseph Reyes became the fifth Muskie to score a goal this season. The goal was his second career collegiate goal from his defender spot, as he also tallied one goal in Lakeland's abbreviated spring season. Reyes also joins Michecadet Gethand as the only players so far who scored goals in both the spring and now the fall.
