Series history:Â 24th meeting, Dominican leads 23-0
The Stars have historically been the standard in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference men's soccer, having won 12 regular season titles and 14 tournament titles in the league's 20 years of play. The Muskies have never beaten Dominican, though last year was one of their nearest misses with a 2-1 loss in River Forest, Ill., as the Stars' Nicolas Porada scored in the 60th minute to break a 1-1 tie. Dominican also won the teams' last meeting at Taylor Field 4-0 a year ago this weekend on Oct. 18, 2025.
Lakeland last time out: Lost to MSOE 3-2 Wednesday
The Muskies and Raiders played a terrific back-and-forth match, but MSOE scored the go-ahead goal in the 62nd minute and held on, even as Lakeland challenged in the final minutes while playing a man down.
Aaron Cortez and
Woodlens Frederic scored goals, including Cortez curling in a corner kick to give the Muskies a 1-0 lead just over 12 minutes into the match.
Isai Gil and
Cris Maschio assisted on Frederic's goal, and Gil's assist was his eighth of the season, setting a new Lakeland single-season record for assists, breaking the record of seven set by Michael Heinen and Kyle Nothem in 1997.
Dominican last time out: Lost at Illinois Tech 2-1 Wednesday
The Stars continued a string of close matches with their third straight loss by a 2-1 score, falling to the Scarlet Hawks on the road in Chicago. All three goals came in the final 16 minutes, with IIT taking the lead at 74:03 of the match and upping its advantage to 2-0 in the 83rd minute, but Dominican got one goal back with 4:24 left in the match with Tristen Banquil scoring with an assist from Jonathan Almaguer. The Stars' last six matches have now been decided by a goal or less, with Dominican 1-4-1 in those games.
