Series history: 129th meeting, Concordia Wisconsin leads 67-61
The series between the Muskies and Falcons is a long and frequently very evenly matched one that dates back more than 80 years. The teams split two games both played at Lakeland on back-to-back days last year in January in the 2020-21 season shortened by the COVID-19 pandemic. Concordia won the first game 101-87 on Jan. 29, 2021 as Jordan Johnson piled up 32 points, but the Muskies came back the next night for an 86-85 win as Trenton Nickel hit a three-pointer with one second left for the winning points. Lakeland swept both contests the prior season; before that the Falcons won nine of 11 matchups from 2014-19. The series dates all the way back to Dec. 17, 1938, when then-Mission House College defeated Concordia College 47-32.

Lakeland last time out: Defeated Illinois Tech 85-67 Saturday
The Muskies had an easy time of it with the Scarlet Hawks, taking the lead for good with a 21-3 run in the first half and continuing to build the lead from there to win for the first time in 2022. Lakeland shot 50% from the field and also outrebounded IIT 42-30 for its biggest rebounding margin of the season. The Muskies led by as many as 28 points in the second half and 13 different players scored led by Jequan Pegeese with 20 points and Cam Jaeger with 17. Lakeland evened its Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference record at 3-3 and also inched back over the .500 mark overall on the season at 7-6.

Concordia last time out: Lost to Concordia Chicago 77-75 Saturday
The Falcons fell at home to their fellow Concordia school from River Forest, Ill., in their first game of the new year and first in 21 days. It was an uphill climb all game long for CUW, which trailed by nine in the first half and spent most of the game trailing the Cougars, who won for the second time last week after also defeating Lakeland on Wednesday. Brandon Keller scored 13 points and added nine rebounds and Sheboygan Lutheran graduate Jared Jurss added 11 points and nine assists for the Falcons, shot shot 47.5% but committed 20 turnovers which led to 25 points for CUC.

About the Falcons: Concordia enters with a 5-7 record but is 4-3 in the NACC, one of eight teams with three conference losses entering Wednesday. The Falcons played a difficult non-conference that included games against nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh and UW-Platteville, both teams ranked in the top 10 nationally in NCAA Division III. Head Coach Shawn Cassidy is in his 15th year leading the CUW program, holds a career 232-142 record and is one of the longest-tenured coaches in the NACC. The Falcons finished 7-5 a year ago but in their most recent full season won the NACC Tournament to earn the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament.
