Series history: 2nd meeting, Lakeland leads 1-0
Lakeland and Greenville have met just one time prior, 54 years ago in the season opener Nov. 28, 1968. The Muskies defeated the Panthers 96-74 in Elsah, Ill., in the quarterfinals of the Prairie College Conference Tournament, an annual Thanksgiving tourney hosted by the conference which Greenville was a part of from 1953-91. Waymon Stewart finished with 22 points and 26 rebounds, Oris Hill added 19 points and all five Lakeland starters scored in double figures.

Lakeland last time out: Lost to St. Norbert 95-56 Tuesday
It was a long night for the Muskies Tuesday as the Green Knights dominated in their first visit to Lakeland in 28 years. St. Norbert shot 53.5% for the game including 10 of 16 from three-point range, while the Muskies shot a cold 30.8% from the floor. The Green Knights also posted a 49-25 rebounding advantage and outscored the hosts 54-16 in the paint in the schools' second-ever meeting as Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference members. Travis Kohlmann scored 14 points off the bench, Caleb Fuller added a career-best 13 points and Isaiah Hammond led Lakeland with nine rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots.

Greenville last time out: Lost at Nebraska Wesleyan 151-99 Saturday
The Panthers suffered their most decisive loss of the season as the Prairie Wolves diced up Greenville shooting 74.4% from the field. The Panthers made 20 of 57 three-point attempts but shot just 37.2% for the game and also were outrebounded 55-32. Travis Dickey scored 17 points off the bench and Darius Scott added 15 points as the Panthers lost their seventh straight to open the season, and the 151 points allowed were a season high.

About the Panthers: Greenville is a member of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and will be one of the most unique opponents to face the Muskies in years. While Lakeland is frequently one of the higher-scoring teams in NCAA Division III, the Panthers run the fast-paced Grinnell System offense developed by former Grinnell (Iowa) head coach David Arsenault that emphasizes three-point attempts, offensive rebounding and frequent mass substitutions. Greenville has led Division III in scoring offense each of the last seven years, including an NCAA all divisions record of 135.1 points per game in the 2018-19 season. Greenville is coached by Dr. George Barber, who in addition to being a coach and professor at the school is also the mayor of Greenville, Ill., a town of just over 7,000 located 51 miles east of St. Louis, Mo.

Record watch: The highest combined total by two teams in a Greenville game this season was 273 points in a 147-126 loss to UW-Stout Nov. 18, the lowest 205 points in a 120-85 loss to Millikin (Ill.) Nov. 15. Given the high-scoring nature of the Panthers'  games, Lakeland single-game points records could be in sight. The Muskies' record for most points in a game was set Nov. 29, 1966 in a season-opening 154-90 win over Judson (Ill.). The most points ever (250) in a Lakeland game came on Valentine's Day 1995, when the Muskies drilled MSOE 148-102.
