COUNTRYSIDE, Ill. – The Lakeland University men's tennis team won its second straight dual and clinched a spot in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament with an 8-1 win over Concordia University Chicago Sunday at Score Tennis & Fitness Center.

The Muskies clinched the sixth seed in the NACC Tournament and will face Concordia University Wisconsin, Illinois Institute of Technology or Milwaukee School of Engineering in a first round match Tuesday. The top three teams in the conference still have to sort out positioning among themselves with Illinois Tech and MSOE facing off this weekend.

Lakeland (3-10 overall, 2-5 NACC) controlled most of the dual against the Cougars (0-8 overall, 0-7 NACC), winning all three doubles matches and five of six matches in singles play. Nick Larson (So.-Sheboygan, Wis.), Jacob Larson (Sr.-Wauwatosa, Wis.), Evan Vorpahl (So.-Sheboygan, Wis.), Luke Roe (Fr.-Plymouth, Wis.) and Alessandro Bianchi (Jr.-Venice, Italy) all finished as double winners taking matches in singles and doubles.

Nick Larson defeated Peter Rios 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles and Jacob Larson blanked Scott Engler 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles. The Larsons also teamed up to defeat Engler and Rios 8-1 at No. 1 doubles.

Roe picked up his first collegiate singles win, topping Kevin Januska 6-0, 7-5 at No. 5 singles. Bianchi also handled Andrew Schroeder 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles, and Bianchi and Roe also paired up for an 8-1 win over Januska and Schroeder at No. 3 doubles.

Vorpahl also added a 6-4, 6-3 win over Caleb Gustafson at No. 3 singles. He also teamed with Ben Busalacchi (So.-Muskego, Wis.) at No. 2 doubles for an 8-5 win over Gustafson and Joshua Wright.
