PLYMOUTH, Wis. – The Lakeland University women's tennis team won five of six singles matches in straight sets and also took three competitive doubles matches in sweeping Alverno College 9-0 in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference dual Saturday at Plymouth High School.

The Muskies continued their mastery of Alverno, defeating the Inferno for the seventh straight time. Lakeland won for the second time this season and first time in NACC play, improving to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in conference.

The Muskies started with three doubles wins, though none came easily. The most convincing win came at Number 2 doubles where Olivia Heling (Fr.-West Bend, Wis.) and Kassidee Webb (Fr.-Castroville, Texas) won 8-3 over Dani Herrera and Merub Irfan. Baylee Babcock (Jr.-Mauston, Wis.) and Morgan Erbstoesser (Sr.-Union, Ill.) posted an 8-4 win in No. 3 doubles over Michal Irfan and Alaina Kamalian, and Mary Blossom (Fr.-Farmington Hills, Mich.) and Sadie Conway (Jr.-Monroe, Wis.) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles over Kalei Hanna and Elizabeth Wolf-Nowakowski.

Lakeland was more dominant in singles play, including Heling winning without dropping a game against Kalei and No. 1 singles and Blossom rolling to a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles over Wolf-Nowakowski. Babcock also won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles over Merub Irfan and Clare Kelnhofer (So.-Brandon, Wis.) picked up the No. 6 singles win 6-0, 6-4 over Michal Irfan. The lone match to go to a third set tiebreaker was at No. 5 singles, where Conway outlasted Kamalian 6-3, 5-7, 11-9.
