Series history: 16th meeting, Benedictine leads 9-3-3
The series between the Muskies and Eagles began when both joined the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference in 2006. Benedictine has held command of the series of late winning the last nine meetings, including a 5-1 last year at home in Lisle, Ill., Oct. 2, 2021 on the strength of three goals in just over four minutes late in the first half. The Eagles also won the last meeting here at Taylor Field, posting a 3-0 victory Oct. 26, 2019. The two teams have tied three times, the last a 2-2 draw in 2011, while Lakeland last defeated the Eagles on Sept. 12, 2009, when Ryan Malo scored the go-ahead goal in the 74th minute of a 4-3 Muskie win.

Lakeland last time out: Tied Concordia Chicago 0-0 Wednesday
The Muskies snapped a four-match losing string but had to settle for a tie with the Cougars in a hard-fought match at Taylor Field. Two teams looking for their first conference win ended up spending most of the time battling for possession in the middle third of the field, though Lakeland had several quality chances including one with just over three minutes left when Joseph Reyes ran on to blast a shot from 20 yards out that was saved. Ben Taylor made five saves in goal for his first collegiate shutout as the Muskies tied for the third time this season and shut out an opponent for the second time.

Benedictine last time out: Lost at Illinois Tech 2-1 Wednesday
The Eagles scored first but IIT scored twice after halftime, including the tying goal just 23 seconds into the second half and the go-ahead goal in the 65th minute. Alex Pillath scored for Benedictine in an evenly played game where both teams posted eight shots on goal. Sergio Valencia made six saves for the Eagles, who already have lost more matches this season than last year when they posted a 13-4-2 record and advanced to the NACC Tournament semifinals before falling to Dominican.
