Series history: Lakeland and Concordia have been meeting on the soccer field for nearly 40 years, with a series that dates back to 1984. Though complete records aren't available, the Falcons have dominated the series recently and overall. Concordia holds a 29-4-4 series lead since 1991 and is undefeated in the last 24 meetings, with a 20-0-4 mark since the Muskies' last win. Lakeland last defeated Concordia Oct. 4, 2000, recording a 3-2 win in overtime. The Falcons have won the last 12 meetings, including a 4-1 victory here at Taylor Field in the season finale a year ago this week. The Muskies last earned a tie against Concordia in 2010, playing to a 2-2 draw that year as all four goals were scored in the first 24 minutes.

Lakeland last time out: Lost to Elmhurst 3-0 Monday
The Muskies stepped out of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play for a day and lost to the Bluejays of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin. Lakeland played on mostly even terms in a scoreless draw in the first half, but Elmhurst scored just over five minutes into the second half, added a second goal in the 56th minute and tacked on the final goal with 52 seconds left in the match. The Bluejays finished with a 17-6 advantage in shots, including 11-3 in the second half. Carson Galla and Ben Taylor combined to make five saves in goal and a total of 23 players saw the field as Lakeland substituted freely in its final non-conference match and second-to-last match of the season.

Concordia last time out: Lost to Dominican 3-1 Saturday
The Falcons were involved in a game that trended in similar fashion Saturday. CUW and Dominican went scoreless in the first half, but the Stars scored first in the 52nd minute, then added goals in the 55th and 62nd minutes. Alishan Sharipov scored for the Falcons in the 66th minute but Dominican finished the match with a 26-7 advantage in shot attempts and stayed among the NACC leaders.

Lakeland enters its season finale out of contention for a spot in the eight-team NACC Tournament, but Concordia very much has plenty to play for Wednesday. The Falcons enter the night 10th in the conference standings with 11 points, but are just three points out of seventh and two points out of eighth. With seventh-place Edgewood and eighth-place Benedictine both playing teams in the top-four in the standings, the Falcons still have a chance to play into the tourney with a win pending other results.

The Muskies, meanwhile, can finish as high as a tie for eighth in the conference standings with a win Wednesday night, and with a win over Concordia would finish ahead of the Falcons in the NACC. A tie for eighth would include both Benedictine University and Illinois Institute of Technology, though, and Benedictine owns the tiebreaker over both teams for the possible final spot in the NACC Tournament.
