Series history: 6th meeting, Illinois Tech leads 4-1
The history between Lakeland and Illinois Institute of Technology in men's soccer is a brief one, with most of it coming  since IIT joined the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference in 2018. The Scarlet Hawks won last year's meeting 3-0 at home in Chicago, with Michael Kaczowka scoring the first goal in the 26th minute and Illinois Tech adding a pair of goals late in the second half. The Muskies picked up their first win over Tech Oct. 23, 2021, with a 2-0 win here at Taylor Field as Michecadet Gethand scored both goals. The first meeting between the schools came in both teams' 2005 season opener, when IIT pulled out a 2-1 win here at Lakeland. The Muskies' coach in that game was Marc Colwell, who led the Lakeland men's and women's soccer programs for five years from 2001-05 and now is in his 10th year as head coach at Illinois Tech.

Lakeland last time out: Lost at Wisconsin Lutheran 3-0 Wednesday
The Muskies' struggles in the NACC continued against the Warriors, who received all three goals from Tony Bedolla and send Lakeland to its fifth straight loss. WLC took the lead with just 1:36 left before halftime and then scored again 1:44 into the second half to take a 2-0 lead. Zach Heiman made six saves in goal and Alessandro Bianchi led Lakeland with four shot attempts.

The Muskies have seen a promising start to the season fizzle, losing five straight all in conference play. Lakeland has scored just one goal in that stretch, by Dirk Dell Adema against Aurora last Saturday. Lakeland does have the benefit of playing five of its final seven matches at home after playing nine of its first 11 away from Taylor Field.

Illinois Tech last time out: Tied Dominican 1-1 Wednesday
The Scarlet Hawks added yet another tie to their resume this year, playing to a draw with the Stars at home in Chicago. Mateo Sanchez scored the match's first goal for IIT in the 57th minute but Dominican tied it 20 minutes later. Adam Falcigno made six saves for the Scarlet Hawks in an evenly played match where the Stars held a slim 17-15 advantage in shots. The tie was IIT's sixth this season in 14 matches, including its fourth by a 1-1 score.
