PLYMOUTH, Wis. – Edgewood College came out strong from the start and the Lakeland University men's volleyball team fell in three sets at home Thursday night in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play.

The Eagles prevailed 25-15, 26-24, 25-18 to win for the first time in conference this season. Edgewood moved to 5-15 overall and 1-5 in the NACC, while the Muskies dropped to 6-12 overall and 1-5 on the conference loop.

Coming off a five-set win in a conference match the night before against Wisconsin Lutheran College, Lakeland was unable to muster a similar effort. The Eagles dominated the first and third sets and rallied from a 23-20 deficit late in the second set to take that one as well.

The Muskies had scored two straight points late in the second to take a three-point lead after a block by Chase Anderson (Fr.-Hartford, Wis.) and Colin Kenney (Jr.-Shorewood, Wis.), but Edgewood finished the set on a 6-1 run. Four straight points got the Eagles to set point before a service error, but Lakeland returned the service error and Will Gehrke then delivered an ace to clinch the set.

The Muskies hit .120 as a team with 27 kills and 16 errors in 92 swings, with Edgewood more than doubling that hitting .261 with 42 kills and 18 errors in 92 attacks. Kenney and Ben Busalacchi (Jr.-Muskego, Wis.) led Lakeland with eight kills each and Busalacchi tied with Eli Weinrich (Fr.-Mequon, Wis.) for team honors with eight digs. Anderson also finished with 23 assists.

Gavin Patterson and Ryder Hill-Zastrow led Edgewood with 11 kills each. Dylan Griffith also posted a match-high 14 digs.

The Muskies return to the court Wednesday when they travel to face Marian University in Fond du Lac at 6 p.m.
