KOHLER, Wis. – Jacob Swigert (Fr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) and Daniel Siebert (So.-Mount Pulaski, Ill.) were both part of their first-ever collegiate wins in the Lakeland University men's tennis team's 7-2 loss to Edgewood College Sunday at Sports Core.

Swigert earned his first-ever singles win in his second collegiate singles match. The freshman won in straight sets, defeating Edgewood's Alton Robinson 6-1, 7-5 at Number 5 singles.

Siebert paired up with Alessandro Bianchi (Sr.-Venice, Italy) at No. 3 doubles, and the duo defeated Edgewood's Robinson and Ethan Towne 8-2 for their first win together.

The Muskies (0-6 overall) had their most competitive showing of the season, including close losses at No. 4 and No. 6 singles. Robert Grimes (So.-Plymouth, Wis.) went to a tiebreaking third set at No. 4 singles before falling to Brad Erickson 6-2, 3-6, 10-5. Siebert faced Towne at No. 6 singles and was close to getting to a third set before dropping a 6-3, 7-5 decision.

Lakeland is idle from competition the rest of the week and is on the road for its next match when it faces Marian University Saturday, April 15 at 11 a.m. in Fond du Lac.
