Box Score WATERTOWN, Wis. –
Michael Barragan (
Sr.-Milwaukee, Wis.) scored a career-high three goals and the Lakeland University men's soccer team won for the first time this season, defeating Maranatha Baptist University 8-1 Tuesday afternoon.
Barragan scored the first two goals of the game less than two minutes apart to give the Muskies a 2-0 just over 12 minutes in. He added a third goal for the hat trick just over five minutes into the second half for the teams first goal of the half and to give Lakeland a 5-1 lead.
Barragan was one of six Muskies to score in the match, with five others recording one goal each.
Aung San (
Sr.-Charlotte, N.C.) scored his first collegiate goal in the 16th minute and
Andres Gonzalez (
Sr.-Jamul, Calif.) also added a goal in the 28th minute, answering the Sabercats' lone goal from Joshua Wright that briefly cut the Lakeland lead to 3-1.
Gavin Pinchart (
Jr.-Green Bay, Wis.) added a goal at 70 minutes, 51 seconds of the match, and
Carson Galla (
Sr.-Deerfield, Wis.) and
T.J. Sanusi (
Jr.-Chicago, Ill.) added goals just 51 seconds apart late for the final scores.
Lakeland controlled play, outshooting Maranatha 29-4 for the match.
Michecadet Gethand (
Sr.-Jackson, Wis.) also added two assists while
Zach Heiman (
Jr.-Racine, Wis.) and
Ben Taylor (
Jr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) split time in goal.
The Muskies continue their early season road show with another away from home on Thursday as they travel to take on Lawrence University at 7 p.m. in Appleton.
