Series history: 23rd meeting, Aurora leads 20-2
The series between Lakeland and Aurora dates back to 2002 and has been largely dominated by the Spartans since a 3-2 double-overtime win in that first meeting Sept. 15, 2002.  Aurora has won nine straight in the series, including a 5-1 win last year in the Chicago area. The Spartans also won 3-1 at home in the teams' 2022 meeting, and Aurora pulled out a narrow 1-0 win in the last meeting at Taylor Field Sept. 25, 2021. The Muskies' last win in the series came on Sept. 29, 2013 when Farouk Dadzie scored the golden goal 1:26 into overtime to give Lakeland a 2-1 win in Aurora, its first win over the Spartans since a 3-0 win back on Sept. 7, 2003, in the teams' second meeting ever.

Lakeland last time out: Lost to Dominican 4-0 Wednesday
The Muskies played well against the perennial NACC power Stars for the first half and stayed close for a good 75 minutes before Dominican scored a pair of goals late. The Stars scored the game's first goal just over two minutes in, but Lakeland from there played in even terms in the first half and even had several good chances to score. Dominican held possession much of the second half but scored all of its goals on quick strikes, including a corner kick headed in, a breakaway and then a penalty kick with just over a minute left in the match. Zach Heiman made four saves in goal and Jordan Davis-Troller led the attack with two shots, including one of the Muskies' three shots on goal.

Aurora last time out: Won at Rockford 4-0 Wednesday
The Spartans dominated all the way through against the Regents on the road in Rockford. Aurora scored three times in the first half, including a goal with less than three minutes remaining in the half. Enrique Gonzalez scored twice for the Spartans, who outshot the Regents 32-1 for the match, including 18-1 in their three-goal first half.

Aurora emerged as one of the top teams in the NACC last year, tying for the regular season crown with a 10-0-2 league mark. The Spartans are second in the conference early this season, with a tie with Dominican the lone blemish on their ledger.
