PLYMOUTH, Wis. –
A.T. Bartlett (
Jr.-Farmington Hills, Mich.),
Halle Boldt (
Sr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) and
Alexis Johnson (
Jr.-Sheboygan, Wis.) combined for 58 points and the Lakeland University women's basketball team rolled past Maranatha Baptist University 107-30 Tuesday night at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
Bartlett finished with 22 points, Boldt scored 19 and Johnson added 17 off the bench as the Muskies dominated in their home debut. Lakeland shot 49.5% and forced 47 turnovers to earn its first win and improve to 1-2 on the campaign.
The Muskies opened the game on a 14-2 run and blew it open with 19 straight points to begin the second quarter, opening up a 44-11 lead. Lakeland scored 38 points in the second quarter, a new program record for points in a quarter since women's collegiate basketball went to quarters in 2015.
The Muskies led 63-18 at halftime, with Boldt scoring 17 points in the first half and Bartlett adding 16. Lakeland reached the 100-point mark with 2 minutes, 49 seconds left in the game on a layup by
Katelyn Hauser (
Fr.-Wykoff, Minn.), and its 107 points were two points short of the school single-game record of 109 points set Dec. 29, 2003 in a win over Mount Mary University.
Bartlett finished making 8 of 12 shots including 4 of 7 from three-point range. Boldt made 8 of 10 from the field and all three free throw attempts, and both Bartlett and Boldt added seven steals each.
Jenna Shea (
So.-Appleton, Wis.) also scored 10 points and
Peyton Madl (
Fr.-New Lenox, Ill.) added eight points, eight rebounds and six assists.
Brooklyn Wayer (Jr.-Pewaukee, Wis.) also scored eight points off the bench, making all four of her field goal attempts. Twelve different players scored for the Muskies, and Madl (24 minutes) was the only Lakeland player to finish with more than 18 minutes played.
Paige Joiner led Maranatha Baptist with 13 points in its season opener. Lilian Cook added nine points, eight rebounds and four steals. The Sabercats shot 22.4% (11 of 49), and starters scored all but two of their points.
The Muskies now get ready for their home opener Tuesday when they welcome Maranatha Baptist University for a 7 p.m. tip at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
