Kitsembel, Pernsteiner both receive Academic All-District honors

Lakeland University women's volleyball student-athletes Katelyn Kitsembel (Jr.-Lake Mills, Wis.) and Caitlyn Pernsteiner (So.-Arpin, Wis.) both received academic honors when College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) released its NCAA Division III Academic All-District Teams Tuesday.

The awards are based on combined performances in the classroom and on the court. To be eligible, the nominee must be a starter or important reserve, have completed one full calendar year at the nominating institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50.

Kitsembel is majoring in exercise science with a minor in psychology, and has been a regular in the Muskies' back row for three seasons. Pernsteiner is majoring in nursing and this year started as an outside hitter, finishing second on the team in kills.

The 2024-25 Academic All-District Women's Volleyball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes women's volleyball honorees in four divisions - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in mid-January.
