MEQUON, Wis. – The Lakeland University men's tennis team finished its season with a 9-0 loss to Concordia University Wisconsin Sunday afternoon.

Including a loss to St. Norbert College in their home finale the day before, the Muskies closed their campaign with a pair of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference losses. Lakeland was competitive in a number of matches on Sunday but finished the season 0-7 overall and in conference play.

Noriyuki Hatakenaka (Jr.-Tokyo, Japan) was part of two of the Muskies' best performances. He nearly won the first set of his singles match before eventually falling to Renan Revite at No. 2 singles 7-5, 6-1. Hatakenaka also teamed with Jacob Swigert (So.-Sheboygan, Wis.) at No. 2 doubles, the duo dropping an 8-4 decision to Revite and Isaac Bruins.

Rob Grimes (Jr.-Plymouth, Wis.) also won five games in his No. 5 singles match before eventually falling 6-2, 6-3 to Kristopher Greenhaw. Grimes and Andy Garcia Arreguin (Sr.-Worthington, Minn.) also competed at No. 3 doubles and were defeated 8-2 by Greenhaw and Dylan Nadolski.

Lakeland also was defeated by a 9-0 score by St. Norbert on Saturday. Seniors Alessandro Bianchi (Venice, Italy) and Ben Busalacchi (Muskego, Wis.) had the best showings for the Muskies, including Bianchi making a run in the second set before losing to Brian Coulter 6-1, 6-4 at No. 4 singles. Busalacchi also won five games in his No. 3 singles match before falling to David Vandenberg 6-2, 6-3.
